Moose Toy is an Australian toy company that was a sub-licensee for Sea-Monkeys in that country and other international markets (including Greece, Japan, Spain, Malaysia and possibly other markets with no proper documentation) during the mid 1990s to early 2000s.

During their time with the brand’s sublicense, Moose Toys took some creative liberties with the product design and branding. This resulted in various unique Sea-Monkeys kits that were quite different from those produced by Educational Insights during those early years.

Moose Toys initial timeline with the brand is not that well-documented, but it appears they were granted the international sub-license sometime during the first year of Educational Insights becoming the third primary licensee of the brand in 1995. By 2002, a new Australian distributor, Funtastic Ltd (now Toys “R” Us Australia), was assigned to Sea-Monkeys, with Moose Toys deal apparently having ended during an unspecified time prior to this.

In 2008, by which time Educational Insights’ deal with the brand had ended, and Big Time Toys was the new licensee, Moose Toys stated in a press release that they once again would distribute Sea-Monkeys products in that market, which they did for some years during Big Time Toys period.

We reached out to Moose Toys in hopes of obtaining new historical information and/or material about their early years with the brand, but we were unsuccessful.
