Basic Fun Inc. was a toy company based in Pennsylvania, United States, which was the licensee of the Sea-Monkey brand from 1994 to 1995, making it the shortest licensee the brand has had. Given the short time with the brand, officially produced material has remained elusive; we’ll update this section accordingly if anything becomes available for documentation.

Basic Fun Inc. Fate

Founded in 1991 by Alan Dorfman, Basic Fun Inc. was well known during its height in the 1990s for its line of keychains that featured miniaturized versions of popular toy brands. In 2008, Basic Fun Inc. was sold to Good Stuff, which itself was eventually bought in 2013 by The Bridge Direct, based in Florida. While the Pennsylvania-based Basic Fun Inc. had ceased to exist, The Bridge Direct eventually merged with the Canadian Tech 4 Kids company in 2017, and Basic Fun Inc.’s name was revived and used for the newly merged entity.

In 2016, Dorfman started a new toy company in Pennsylvania called Super Impulse, which is seemingly a spiritual successor to his original company. The company also has a line of miniaturised popular toys, and the company logo features a jester, an apparent homage to its predecessor.
